Choose a form for the stage your client has reached
An enquiry form helps you decide whether you can help. A project brief defines the work. An onboarding form collects what you need after the client agrees to proceed. Choosing the right stage keeps the first contact short and prevents clients from sending files before your team needs them.
| Your task | Start here | What it collects |
|---|---|---|
| Answer a general website enquiry | Website contact form | Name, email, subject and a short message. Use this when you need to reply before asking detailed questions. |
| Scope a job and prepare a quote | Quote request form | Service, requirements, timing and budget range. Review the answers before promising a price or delivery date. |
| Prepare an initial legal review | Solicitor client intake form | Matter type, relevant parties, a short summary and urgent dates. The submission remains an enquiry until the firm confirms it can act. |
| Start an agreed project | Client onboarding form | Project goals, business details, deadlines and relevant files. Send it when scope and next steps have been agreed. |
What should you change before sharing a client form?
Replace generic service choices with services you actually provide. Require one reliable contact method and explain when the client should expect a reply. Ask for a budget range only when it helps your team decide whether the enquiry is suitable.
Use conditional questions for genuinely different routes: an urgent deadline, an existing project or a particular service. Preview each route on a phone, then submit a test response and check that the answers your team needs are present.
Keep first-stage uploads optional where possible. A form template does not perform identity checks, conflict checks or professional onboarding for you. Define who reviews enquiries and where accepted client information moves next.
